About Hortsso

The history, mission, and people behind the Horticulture Students' Society (HORTSSO) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

Horticultural Nursery, Floriculture, and Seedling Propagation

Our Story

hortsso was established to provide every student in the Department of Horticulture at FUNAAB with an empowering home — academically, socially, and professionally. Under the College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT), we connect classroom plant physiology, nursery management, and greenhouse fieldwork into one continuous learning journey.

Over the years, our departmental community has nurtured student scholars through structured academic clinics, floral propagation workshops, landscape design exhibitions, and inter-departmental sports, building a legacy that endures through graduation and into horticultural leadership.

Floriculture & Nursery Management

Nurturing ornamental plants, seedling propagation, garden centers, and cutting-edge floral cultivation techniques.

Pomology, Olericulture & CEA

Mastering fruit and vegetable crop science, hydroponics, and controlled-environment greenhouse technologies.

Landscape Design & Mentorship

Designing sustainable green landscapes, urban arboriculture, and empowering students through peer clinics and fieldwork.
